New Course Record Set Throughout The Thirty Sixth Annual Chicago Marathon - Nadalinjury


While security was on the minds of the many throughout their twenty six.2 mile journey through the city's streets, participants did not let it stop them because the winning runner set a replacement course record in what has become a historic Chicago Marathon.

Dennis Kimetto of Republic of Kenya won the male division with associate unofficial time of 2:03:45, breaking the previous record set last year of 2:04:38.

Rita Jeptoo of Republic of Kenya won the feminine division with associate unofficial time of 2:19:59, slower than the 2002 course record of 2:17:18.

The winners of the chair division finished the race in but two hours. As a gaggle of wheelchairs crossed the finish variety of volunteers clapped and cheered.
